Eligibility:
The competition is open to all nationalities. Age limits, as of August 21, 2008, for all divisions are imposed as follows:
Division A: 8 - 12 years
Division B: 13 - 17 years
Division C: at least 18 years

Application procedure:
- Pianists wishing to participate in the competition are advised to download and fill out the application form. To view and print out the form, click here. Repertoire:
Division A
Preliminary: One or more works of the Viennese classical period. The total duration of the program has to be at least 6 but must not exceed 8 minutes.
Final round: Free choice of repertoire. The total duration of the program has to be at least 8 but must not exceed 12 minutes.
Division B
Preliminary: A sonata of the Viennese classical period.
Semifinal round: Two compulsory works by Franz Schubert: Drei Klavierstücke D 946, No. 1 in e flat minor as well as Impromptu op.90, D 899, No. 2 in E flat major.
Final round: Free choice of repertoire. The total duration of the program has to be at least 12 but must not exceed 15 minutes.
Division C
Preliminary: A sonata of the Viennese classical period.
Semifinal round: Impromptu op. 90 (D 899), Nr. 3 in G flat major or Impromptu op. 142 (D 935), No. 3 in B flat major by Franz Schubert as well as one or more works by Robert Schumann, the total duration of which must not exceed 10 minutes in length.
Final round: Free choice of repertoire. The total duration of the program has to be at least 18 but must not exceed 25 minutes.
Prizes:
The best three contestants will receive a gift and a certificate of recognition.
All finalists will receive a diploma.
First prize, division C: Euro 500.00 plus an honorary award by the Mayor of the City of Vienna and a recital at the Palais Lobkowitz Eroica Hall.
A special prize for a finalist of division A or B, sponsored by Ms. Imola Jóo, will be awarded.
During the semifinal round of division C, a special prize for the best interpretation of a work by Schubert will be awarded.
The prizes will be awarded after the final round.

Details:
The term "Viennese classical period" comprises works by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
All works played during the competition are to be performed only once and without repeats.
Changes of repertoire must be submitted prior to the application deadline.
